Trikon Parikrama of Vindhyachal Dham

The Sacred Triangular Pilgrimage Circuit of Adi Shakti

The Trikon Parikrama (Triangular Pilgrimage Circuit) of Maa Vindhyavasini Dham is one of the most sacred pilgrimages dedicated to the Divine Mother (Adi Shakti) in India. Located in Vindhyachal, Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, this holy journey connects three powerful manifestations of Goddess Durga—Maa Vindhyavasini (Mahalakshmi), Maa Kali Khoh (Mahakali), and Maa Ashtabhuja (Mahasaraswati). Together, these three temples form a sacred triangle, symbolizing the complete cosmic energy of the Goddess. Devotees believe that completing the Trikon Parikrama with faith brings prosperity, wisdom, protection, and spiritual liberation.

The Spiritual Significance

Maa Vindhyavasini Devi

The embodiment of Mahalakshmi, who blesses devotees with prosperity, happiness, and spiritual fulfillment.

Maa Kali Khoh

The fierce manifestation of Mahakali, who destroys evil, fear, and dispels negative energies.

Maa Ashtabhuja Devi

The divine form of Mahasaraswati, who grants wisdom, courage, knowledge, and enlightenment.

The Sacred Route

The traditional Trikon Parikrama follows a continuous 3-stage holy circuit:

1

Maa Vindhyavasini Temple

The pilgrimage begins at the revered Maa Vindhyavasini Temple, one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India. Devotees seek the blessings of the presiding deity before beginning the sacred journey.

2

Kali Khoh Temple

From Vindhyavasini Temple, pilgrims proceed to Kali Khoh, an ancient cave shrine dedicated to Maa Mahakali. According to tradition, the Goddess manifested here to destroy the demon Raktabeeja. The powerful atmosphere inside the cave symbolizes the victory of divine power over darkness.

3

Ashtabhuja Devi Temple

The final destination is the hilltop Ashtabhuja Devi Temple, dedicated to the eight-armed Goddess. Mythological traditions associate this temple with the divine Yogamaya who escaped from King Kansa and chose the Vindhya Mountains as her eternal abode. The temple also offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Ganga plains and Vindhya hills.

Mythological Importance

The Trikon Parikrama is deeply rooted in the Devi Bhagavata Purana, Durga Saptashati, and local sacred traditions of Vindhyachal.

According to legend, when King Kansa attempted to kill the eighth child of Devaki, the divine infant transformed into Goddess Yogamaya and proclaimed that Krishna had already been born elsewhere. She then appeared in the Vindhya Mountains as Maa Vindhyavasini, with Kali Khoh and Ashtabhuja completing the holy triangle.
